the conquistador course
18 holes, 6,801 yards, Par 71, Rating 72.7, Slope 126
The Conquistador Course at Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort is a recently renovated Greg Nash design offering state-of-the-art agronomic conditions and a true 'country club' course.
The Conquistador Course is located in a lush, park-like setting adjacent to the clubhouse by the driving range. Fringed with natural mesquite and palo verde trees, this fabulous 18 hole course is intertwined with vibrant desert flora and offers four sets of tee boxes suitable for golfers of all abilities.
Wide, open fairways and long holes provide the challenge of negotiating desert vegetation.
The fourth hole at the Conquistador Course is a 375 yard par 4 that requires an accurate tee shot to avoid the desert on both the left and right. The second shot requires a carry over the desert that crosses the fairway to a tricky elevated green.
The memorable 541 yd, par 5, fifth hole requires every type of shot to play over a pond to a two-tiered green protected by bunkers, so choose your club and shot wisely. Hole number 11 is a 539 yard par five that doglegs right. Desert protects the fairway on both sides and the green is perched above a ravine that boasts some of the deepest rough on the course.
The 407 yard 12th hole on the Conquistador course demands a precise drive down the left side of the fairway to avoid being blocked out by a Mesquite tree on the right. If you can navigate the drive it will leave you a short second shot to an elevated green and a chance at birdie.
